We are delighted to inform you that Robert Bloomfield has been selected as one of the first 200 Teaching Schools in the country. This will be announced nationally this week.
The designation by the National College for School Leadership and the Department for Education entitles the school to lead the training and professional development for staff. The programme gives outstanding schools the freedom and autonomy to lead a group of schools, working with other partners including local Universities, to deliver high quality support for teachers and leaders at all stages in their career. Also, we have been designated as a National Support School and a National Leader in Education.
Steve Munby, Chief Executive of the National College, said: "Teaching schools like Robert Bloomfield Academy need to be at the top of their game to take on this role - outstanding in their own performance and have a track record of raising standards through school-to-school support. We now have 200 teaching schools around the country who are in a position to harness the finest teaching talent in the profession to driveschool improvement in innovative ways, and bring real benefits to pupils and staff. Trainees can learn from the best teachers in action and those who want to move up the career ladder are exposed to excellent practice within and beyond their immediate school."

Robert Bloomfield Academy, Shefford, Bedfordshire, is a thriving and successful school in a vibrant local Community. Our achievement in being graded "Outstanding" by OFSTED in 2008 and 2009 supports our commitment to high standards and academic Excellence.
Our results and academic standards are outstanding and we have wonderful facilities and an excellent learning environment – our teachers are of the highest quality. Last year we were designated a specialist Science, Maths and Technology school, under the banner of "Engineering". We were the first Middle School in the country to achieve specialist status. The school has a recent history of supporting local schools, and we are proud to be able to do this.
There are wonderful facilities here for your child, including four modern labs, a new sports hall, a floodlit Astroturf (MUGA), a modern café, new design facilities, a modern music ICT suite, a new Studio Theatre and several new Year 5 classrooms and playground.
