Board of Governors

Governors' Welcome

Richard Ford, Chair of Governors at Robert Bloomfield AcademyMy name is Richard Ford and I am the Chair of Governors at Robert Bloomfield Academy. I have been Chair of Governors for almost fifteen years. Along with my brother, I have run the local Ford Dealership for the past 25 years. I am a keen "green" bowler and have been active in the local club for over 35 years. I have been the treasurer for the past 25 years. I live in Shefford with my wife Linda, who is actively involved with local Shefford Community groups, and our four grown up children.

  • Governors are charged with overseeing the school’s work, and reporting in to our multi academy group (BEMAT), all are unpaid volunteers who attend meetings and events.
  • Governors are responsible for setting the budget and for ensuring a school development plan is implemented and reviewed.
  • The governors are drawn from elected parents, local authority representatives, teachers, non-teaching staff and co-opted members from the local community.

Our school is an Academy and converted in April 2011. We are self governing and accountable to BEMAT and we maintain a positive relationship with Central Beds Local Authority. We know Robert Bloomfield is an excellent school. We very much hope your children enjoy their time here and make the most of it. Our teachers are dedicated and hard working and we are proud of the pupils’ successes.
